Sundays

Every Sunday morning, at 10:30am, the church gathers to worship God, encourage one another, and learn from Scripture.

Our goal in worship is to experience the presence of God, express our thanks to Him and allow Him to work in our lives.

We seek to provide something for all ages and any children’s work is led by people who are DDC (previously DBS) checked.

Laughter is often heard in our services and there is continued effort to provide something that all ages can find fun yet appropriate.

We believe in acceptance and respect for everyone acknowledging that God has a plan for each one of us. Our goal is to bring everyone we encounter into a true understanding of God so that people can encounter Jesus on a personal level.

What is church like?

Churches vary tremendously but at Harefield Baptist we don’t have a set pattern that we expect people to know, but rather an informal structure that is very user-friendly and easy to follow.

Words for the songs are normally displayed via the laptop on the overhead projector and you are free to join in as and when you want. The person leading always gives clear instructions, so you know what to do and when. The congregation is small yet growing and very friendly so you will always feel welcomed.

Worship at HBC

"It is in the process of being worshipped that God communicates His presence to people." CS Lewis.

The worship team at Harefield Baptist consist of a bunch of people who love worship in all its forms. We are always on the lookout for musicians, singers, people who are willing to serve on the PA, or who have other creative talents. Come along on a Sunday and introduce yourself.

CS Lewis, the creator of the wonderful Narnia stories such as, 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' had a lot to say about worship. Our personal favourite must be....

"A person can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell."

Prayer at HBC

We believe that prayer is crucial to our very existence. Prayer is basically a conversation with God and whatever He has to say to us must be worth hearing!

Prayer is about touching the heart of God. It brings joy and delight, fulfilment and satisfaction, security and protection.
We believe that prayer is key for us to gain more understanding of God. We believe God answers prayer in many different ways.
Without making prayer central to the life of the church, we will only accomplish a fraction of what God is calling us to do.

Praying for one another

Our fellowship meet together to support one another and pray for our community. If you would like to meet with someone for prayer or take part in the prayer life of the church then please contact us. We also regularly have a prayer walk on Fridays at 09:30. Please contact us for details.

Young people

Young people are not just the churches' future - they are the churches' present!

Jesus had a wide variety of followers of different ages and we believe that His message can relate and impact people of all ages today.

We attempt to provide something for young people and see them as important in all areas of the church. They are encouraged to take an active part in the church which leads to self-confidence and respect.

Safe environment

Everyone who works with young people at our church have been DDC (previously DBS) checked. We seek to cater for young people in a safe environment to maintain their safety. Please see our 'Safeguarding' page for details.

Jesus loves children

One day some mothers brought their babies to him to touch and bless. But the disciples told them to go away. Then Jesus called the children over to him and said to the disciples, “Let the little children come to me! Never send them away! For the Kingdom of God belongs to people who have hearts as trusting as these little children’s. And anyone who doesn’t have their kind of faith will never get within the Kingdom’s gates.”

Luke 18:15-17 Living Bible

Questions people ask.

Can I come and just watch or would I be expected to take part?

Many people start by just coming along to take a look at what’s happening when they first attend Church and that’s absolutely fine. You will not be forced to do anything that you don’t want to do. We want you to feel happy and at home.

Questions people ask.

What happens if I come to Church and it’s communion? Do I have to take it?

You certainly don’t have to take it! Communion takes place once a month and anyone who believes, loves and follows Jesus can take part. We would never deny you participating but ask you to consider the importance and significance of it first.

Questions people ask.

How much do I have to put in the offering? What is it used for?

You are our guest and we do not expect you to contribute unless you would like to. At Harefield Baptist we operate a system called a ‘retiring offering’ which basically means there is a box on a table that you can contribute to if you want to. No ‘offering’ bag is passed around.

The offering is used to pay for the upkeep of the Church, the Minister's salary and many of the things we do in the local community. The Church also helps various charity and mission organisations in the UK and around the world.

Questions people ask.

What happens if my children are noisy?

It is natural for children to be noisy and that’s not a problem. We try to incorporate them as much as possible in the service. You will find people willing to love and help rather than scowl and condemn.

Questions people ask.

What do I have to do when there are prayers?

In our Church we don’t kneel down to pray yet if someone wants to do so there is no problem with that either. Most of the time we sit with our eyes closed. What is important is that you are comfortable and able to participate or watch as appropriate.

Questions people ask.

If I came once would I be pestered into coming again?

We would give you the space to make that decision for yourself. You may be asked to fill in a ‘visitor sheet’ so that we keep in touch but if you would rather not do so then that is no problem.
